A Small unit measures 1.5 metres by 1.5 metres — roughly the size of a large wardrobe. This is ideal for:

A Standard unit is 3 metres by 3 metres — the size of a small room. This is the most popular size and fits:
- The contents of a 1-bedroom apartment (bed, sofa, table, appliances)

- Multiple large appliances (fridge, washing machine, TV)
- Seasonal retail stock

Large Unit (6m × 3m) — What Fits?
A Large unit is 6 metres by 3 metres — equivalent to a single garage. This is designed for:
- An entire 2–3 bedroom household during renovation or relocation
- A small business with palletised stock, tools, or equipment
- Large furniture sets, lounge suites, and dining room tables
- Vehicle parts or motorcycles

Tips for Estimating What You Need
- Walk through each room and note the large items. Count the boxes you'll need for smaller belongings.
- Stack vertically. Most units are 2.4m–3m tall, so use shelving or stack boxes to maximise floor space.
- Leave aisle space if you need to access items regularly. Budget an extra 0.5m of width.
- When in doubt, go one size up. It's cheaper than renting two small units.

Can I change my unit size later?
Yes. Storage Genie offers month-to-month leases, so you can upgrade or downgrade at the end of any month with no penalty.
Are all unit sizes available at every location?
Most locations offer all three sizes. Clearwater Crossing and Port Elizabeth currently offer Small and Standard units only.
Do I need to bring my own lock?
Yes. You supply your own padlock and hold the only key, ensuring only you can access your unit.
